Mutt Strut a Huge Success!

Best Friends Carmel was proud to attend Mutt Strut at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this past Sunday, benefiting the Humane Society of Indianapolis!  The 7th annual event brought out more than 8,000 visitors and raised more money than last year, despite the rain that lasted throughout the day.  Although everyone (and their dogs) got very, very wet, it was worth it to make the event such a big success! We saw some old faces and a lot of new ones, that we hope to see again in the future. We are looking forward to participating again next year! My name is Katie and I love staying at Best Friends in Carmel! They always give me the undivided love and attention that a girl my age needs--I'm 13 years old and have been coming here a long time. I love my walks and playtimes--There's lots for me to sniff while on the nature trail! My family also gets me a cot, which gives me a nice place to sleep and makes everything nicer on my old joints ;-) Whether you're a puppy or an old-timer like me, Best Friends is the place to stay when your Mom and Dad are away--take it from me!

In memory of...

Ellie Leach

Ellie was always such a happy girl and a favorite of ours here at Best Friends.  We never saw her without her tail wagging and she was loving to everyone that she would meet.  Ellie passed away last Friday after being diagnosed with cancer but she has left us with some of the sweetest memories.  She will be greatly missed- our thoughts go out to her family.

Mutt Strut This Sunday!!

The Humane Society of Indianapolis invites everyone to join them for Mutt Strut this weekend on Sunday April 25, 2010, the day the track goes to the dogs! Animal lovers and their pets from across the nation will be on hand for this family-friendly event that includes a 2 1/2 mile walk (with or without a pet) around the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.


Check-in is from 11:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and participants may check in any time during those hours. Cost is $25 minimum pre-registration fee for ages 16 and over. $15 for ages 7-15, children under age 7 are free but will not receive a T-shirt. All individuals must be pre-registered before April 21. Also visit the IMS Plaza to hear music from DJ Mama Mia, visit the sponsor and vendor booths and shop the HSI Re-Tail store and have your pet microchipped! Woofstock 2010!

Gather the whole family (and the four-legged members too, of course) and head out to the Verizon Wireless Music Center on Saturday, June 12 for a day of fun in the sun! This dog friendly event includes live music, pet and people contests, local celebrities, a human/canine walk, adoptable pets, pet vendors, local pet organizations and so much more! With such a vast array of activities everyone is sure to be entertained! This 3rd annual event is not only a wonderful time for the whole family to be together, but all proceeds go to help all of the wonderful pets in need of a home in Hamilton County. FRED AND GEORGIA COFFMAN

Hi! Meet Fred and Georgia, a brother and sister team that have been coming to Best Friends Carmel  for many, many years now! Fred is a Sharpei mix, and Georgia is a Foxhound mix. As you can see, they enjoy their playtimes in the yard together, and the rest of the time they can be found hanging out on the patio of their spacious indoor/outdoor suite!

(A.K.A. The Butterball Pug!)

Hi! My name is Sam and I am the cutest little chunker-pug ever to stay at Best Friends Carmel  ! I have sooo many friends here, and all the staff argue over who gets to do my cuddletimes and playtimes (but Nancy the manager usually wins because I'm her favorite!) She always tells my Dad that she wants to take me home with her, but I love my Mom and Dad an awful lot so I don't know about that... After all, they always bring me to the coolest kennel around when they travel!
