Here are a few pictures of some of our Play and Stay/Doggy Daycamp doggies!

Tired from so much playing!

Our Play and Stay continues to grow and all the dogs are having the time of their lives! They are eating well, sleeping better and have a lot less anxiety since they are worn out at the end of each day! PSI Take Your Dog to Work Day!

Friday, June 25, 2010 is Pet Sitters' International Take Your Dog to Work Day! In 1999, Pet Sitters' International started Take Your Dog to Work Day to celebrate the great companions that dogs make, and to encourage their adoption from local rescues, Humane Societies and breed rescue groups. Of course, here at Best Friends Carmel we can take our doggies to work with us every day, so we're lucky! But we encourage everyone to open their workplaces to their furry friends tomorrow! Visit the PSI website for helpful hints on making sure you're dog is prepared for a day at the office with you, and to download a a 2010 Action Pack to register your business.

PET OF THE WEEK~~~MacFarland O'Brien

MacFarland O'Brien
Yes, I am THE cutest Scottish Fold ever! Or at least the staff at Best Friends Pet Care in Carmel think so! This week was my first time here, but I quickly made Kitty City "my" room! All the people here say I'm one of their new favorites.  I love sitting in the window watching the birds, but most of all I love it when the staff come in and play with me! I adore having my face rubbed, and everyone says I have so much personality. I guess I make them laugh with my silly faces and the way I sit like a grumpy old grandpa sometimes. I'm not sure what they mean because I'm just being me, but anyway, I love it here! I hope I get to come and stay again very soon :-)

Tales for the Pet Lover's Heart

Beginning April 19, 2010, Purina and Kroger will feature tales from the 18 animal welfare organizations (AWOs) participating in the Tales for the Pet Lover’s Heart campaign on the http://www.talesforthepetloversheart.com/ website. Each participating AWO will receive a $3,000 donation from Purina and Kroger.

From April 19 through July 31, 2010, consumers will be able to learn more about the AWOs by reading their “tales” and to vote for the AWO they believe should receive the “Top Tale” award. Only one (1) vote per day per email address is permitted. Final voting results will be posted to the above website in early August. The five (5) AWOs receiving the most votes during this period (the “Finalists”) will then be asked to bring their pet tale to life via a video.

Videos prepared by the Finalists will be posted on the above website from September 6 through September 30, 2010. During this time consumers will be able to vote for their favorite Finalist video. Only one (1) vote per day per email address is permitted. Although consumers will be permitted to vote for their favorite Finalist video, the Finalist who receives the “Top Tale” award will be determined by Purina and Kroger representatives. The results will be posted on the above website in October. The Finalist determined to have submitted the “Top Tale” will receive an additional $50,000 donation and the remaining four Finalists will each receive an additional $11,500.

Go to http://www.talesforthepetloversheart.com/ to vote for your favorite Indiana shelter today!

PET OF THE WEEK

REX ROBERTS

Hi! My name is Rex, but the staff at Best Friends Carmel call me "Squishies!" I am extremely soft and cuddly, and I absolutely love to roll around in Kitty City on the floor while people rub my belly and my ears. I love to be held and give "kitty kisses," and I will gladly ride around on your shoulder if you let me. I have been coming to Best Friends for a long time...they have such a nice place for me away from all the doggies, where I can sit in the window and watch the birdies. There are toys for me to play with, climbing perches and soft lambswool for me to lay on! I love it here!
